In Blogger, you cannot directly upload or modify a custom robots.txt file.
However, you can control certain aspects of the robots.txt file using the
built-in settings in Blogger. Here's how you can enable and customize the
robots.txt file in Blogger:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
- Sign in to your Blogger account and go to the Blogger dashboard.
- Click on the Settings option for the blog you want to work with.
- In the left menu, click on "Search preferences."
- Under the "Crawlers and indexing" section, you'll find the "Custom robots.txt" option. Click on the "Edit" link next to it.
- You'll see a textarea where you can enter your custom robots.txt directives.
- Write the desired rules in the textarea to control the behaviour of search engine crawlers. For example, you can use the following power to disallow all crawlers from accessing your entire blog:
After adding or modifying the rules, click the "Save changes" button.
While you can add custom directives in the robots.txt section in Blogger,
there are certain limitations. You can control the crawling behaviour to
some extent but cannot override the default behaviour completely.
Additionally, you have a self-hosted version of Blogger on a custom domain.
In that case, you can upload your robots.txt file to the root of your domain
using FTP or the file manager provided by your hosting provider.
